Day 12: Very Proud of My Baby Blog

Today (your) Daily Bailey was featured on the front page of WordPress in the Freshly Pressed section.  The Freshly Pressed Blogs are hand-picked by WP Staff from the hundreds of thousands of blogs posted that day.  They choose only 10 blogs to feature each day, and I am so honored that my blog (Day 11’s entry to be exact) was chosen.

I’m shocked and excited by it all.  Heck, I have only had my blog for less than 2 weeks.  I never thought I would receive that honor, let alone so soon in my “blogging career.”  I have had a hard time pulling myself away from my computer and WordPress all day.  I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a boost to my ego.  It’s a validation for me…. that my photography IS worthy of being seen, and someone thought that it was good enough to share with such a wide audience.   It is a huge compliment.  There is so much more that I want to say, but I am just feeling so overwhelmed by it all.  This blog was never really intended to be about words anyway.

I just want to thank everyone who has checked out my blog today.  I have gotten such a ridiculous amount of page views today, many many wonderful comments, and many new subscribers as well.  I do hope that you stick around and you continue to enjoy my posts and my photos.  But even for all those “one click wonders” who may never come back, thanks for visiting.  You were one more person that I was able to show share my art with.

Bailey’s ego has been boosted as well.  Probably because I made the mistake of telling him that he is famous now.  Look at his grin in that photo ; )

  1. I just subscribed! We blogging newbies have to stick together. LOL Your dog is adorable, by the way. I have a rescue chihauhau that I got in November–she was my Christmas present this year. What a joy animals are in our lives!

    • Thank you :) For both the compliment about Bailey (although I can’t tell him.. he’s already getting a big head from all of his publicity) and for subscribing :) I’ll be sure to check out your blog.

  2. Congrats on being FP! Love your blog. :)

  3. Congratulations for landing on “the cover” of WordPress! And thank you WordPress for choosing your blog!

I have to say Bailey is what I call a “cute overload” and should be your official ambassador for animal rescue efforts.
From what I can tell, he has the personality for it. (You capture his expressions beautifully in your photography).

It’s no wonder your blog is a hit. I heard once that when people see cute puppies and sweet, gentle dogs, either live or in photos or video, it has a calming effect ~ the blood pressure goes down and even really stressed out people have a moment of relief.

So Kristen, not only are you doing a service to dogs and finding them a home, you are doing a service for people too. Not just the ones you unite with a rescue dog, but the rest of us too.

    • That was such a sweet wonderful comment Kristin. You have no idea how much it means to me :) Bailey truly is “cute overload” and he makes it very easy for me to photograph. He is so used to a camera being in his face and he literally poses for me. He is so tolerant of my silly antics lol. I agree about the calming effects of dogs as well. When the weather is nice, we are at our local dog park daily. On most days, I feel as though we go more for me than for Bailey because of how much it relaxes me just to watch the dogs run around and play. Dogs are good for the soul :) In any form.

  4. I have to subscribe your blog because your doggie is so adorable!! Thanks for sharing

  5. I love this blog, I stumbled across it from a “Fastest Growing Blogs” section on my dashboard. My dream is to be a photographer and your photos mirror what I feel like I want to grow up and be. Please continue to share your posts! :)

    • Thank you so much. I am still, so very much, an amateur photographer, and for you to say that my photos are something that you aspire to, is such an amazing compliment. Thank you :) I will definitely continue to share. I’m trapped in this 365 project anyway and have 353 days to go ;)

  6. Just found your blog because it was on freshly pressed….love it!

  7. great little blog find. I shall keep an eye on your photos.. and I love the idea of the time warp tuesday, great new spin, makes the rest of us look kind of boring. It would be fun to turn such a project into a little book one day, maybe as a learning tool.
Take care, and congrats on the front page
