About

Kristen – The Basics

  • I’m 24 years old.
  • I’m currently living in Boston, Massachusetts (Born and raised in South Jersey)
  • I went to school for elementary education.  Graduated.  Moved to probably one of the worse places to be able to find a teaching job.  Spent the past 3 years working as a substitute teacher and a special ed tutor.  Starting to question what I actually want to do with my life so working for a paycheck in the meantime while I figure it all out.
  • I’ve been in my current relationship for over 3 years now.
  • I have a passion for animal rescue.  I wish I could just save dogs as my full time job, but alas it is just volunteer work and volunteering doesn’t pay the bills.  If I hit the lottery or inherited a fortune from a long lost rich relative, I would never work and spend all my time rescuing dogs.
  • I love photography, especially pet photography.  I am too self-conscious and not ambitious enough to make it anything more than a hobby.  I also wish that I was rich so that I could constantly be expanding and upgrading my equipment, but alas photography is an expensive hobby.

Bailey – The Basics

  • He is a (almost) 3 years old cocker spaniel poodle mix.  Don’t call him a cockapoo.  He thinks that sounds silly and it embarrasses him.
  • I have had dogs all my life, however Bailey is my first dog that is mine.
  • He’s really smart… but sometimes he is just plain dumb.   I say that in the most loving way.
  • His nickname is ADD puppy.  The boy gets distracted by everything.
  • He loves agility.  We are always taking more training classes for it and he has a variety of pieces of equipment of his own at home.  We don’t compete.  We just do it for fun and to strengthen our bond and communication.
  • Bailey is spoiled.  Plain and simple.  The dog doesn’t want for anything.  He gets more presents on his birthday, Christmas (and any other day of the week) than most kids do.
  • His favorite toys are his Lamby and Bunny… and the air sleeve bubble wrap that comes in Amazon delivery boxes.
  • He means pretty much everything to me.

(Do I really need to put a photo here?  If you looked at my blog for more than 5 seconds, you know what he looks like)

  1. Thanks for commenting on my cat blog. It Is always nice to get a comment from someone new. Bailey is realy cute. I liked the pic of him running toward the camera with his toung out and ears flying. I would love to see some pics of him doing his agility work.

  2. Now that the weather is warming up, I’m sure we will get his equipment out into the yard and I’ll have some photos. There are a couple agility videos of him on my youtube channel linked below as well.

Thanks for coming to check out my blog :)

  3. lol, Bailey sounds very spoiled … and loved! I look forward to checking out your blog to see more of him!

    • He is indeed very spoiled, but I always say that even though he is spoiled, he is not “spoiled rotten.” He is such a good dog so its okay that he is spoiled lol (unlike people who spoil their dogs, or children, and they are horribly behaved and think they can get away with everything), and definitely very loved :)

  4. he sounds so cute! love pets myself. unfortunately pretty much all of them died on me eventually when i was a kid :/ in the process of starting out with my own blog and going to check out more of yours :)

    • That is the bad thing about pets… they don’t have as long of a lifespan as we would hope for. Thanks for subscribing. I’ll be sure to check out your blog later :)

  5. Bailey is very cute and your photos look great. Congrats on ‘Freshly Pressed’ – I’m sure you’ll ensure he keeps his paws firmly on the ground no matter the new found fame. hehe Really like the two sketches (header & portrait pics) btw. Best of luck.

  6. Hello guys! Due to bailey being such a cutey.. I just gave you an award. Yay! click to claim it.

  7. 1. I love the artwork and photography on your blog.
    2. One of my dogs has teeth that look a lot like Bailey’s. She’s also the first dog that is mine.
    3. My other dog (our family dog) also has a favorite toy named Lamby. It’s electric green and he rests his chin on it when he’s bored.
    4. Your blog is lovely. :)

    • 1. Thank you :)
      2. I just recently saw another dog (one that my rescue that I volunteer for has up for adoption currently) who also has the same teeth as Bailey – the underbite and snaggletooth. I think it adds character and cuteness and I’m sure its just as cute on your dog too :)
      3. Bailey also rests his chin (or I say “cuddles’) with his favorite toys. He will lay down with his feet out, toy on his feet, and head on his toy :)
      4. Thank you :) I love your baking blog as well and after just looking at some of your entries, I have to subscribe :)

  8. I clicked through from another blog and am so glad I did! Bailey is absolutely adorable and your photography is amazing!

  9. Hi. Great blog you have here. I clicked through from our friend According to Gus. We are a relatively new blog too (4 months) so we know the excitemet of seeing the blog take off and your followers grow :) I also love pet photography but do it as a hobby right now. I have always been a landscape photographer and am just learning to photograph dogs – what a challenge. If you want to check out some of my photos beyond what is on the blog you can check out our Facebook page at http:///www.facebook.com/YouDidWhatWithYourWeiner. We’ll ad you to our blog feed and look forward to updates.

    • Thank you for visiting :) It is quite exciting. Photographing dogs is a challenge. I am blessed to have such a photogenic and willing subject. I’ll definitely be off to check out your blog and photography as well!

  10. I’m so glad that you were featured on Freshly Pressed the other day, because after exploring your blog for just a few minutes, I could tell how much I would love visiting here for my Daily Bailey!
Bailey is absolutely adorable! I have a Yorkie named Monty who is 7 years old. I adopted him just a couple of years ago. I have had one other dog before him (a much beloved family pet who died several years ago), but Monty is the first dog that is mine, just like you and Bailey.
I have been an enthusiastic animal lover all my life, so I completely relate to your love of dogs. I have thought before that I would like to foster dogs someday, and seeing what you have to say about fostering just makes me more sure that I want to do it.
Also, before I wrap up my comment I wanted to mention how great your photography is! And I love the little cartoon Bailey, too! Did you do the drawings yourself?

  11. My friend just recommended your site. I really love it. I was also wondering whether you did the drawings yourself or if you had an artist do them? I am looking for an artist a a header and little graphic in a similar style, but for cats.

    • They are actually from a piece of custom artwork that my boyfriend had commissioned by my favorite artist (kurt halsey). Since I loved the way he drew Bailey, i used it for our header. He doesn’t do custom artwork often though. It was a one time thing where he was selling them a couple years ago.

Thanks for dropping by and checking us out :)

  12. You have so many wonderful gifts … and each of your gifts are displayed so beautifully in each and every post and photograph that you share …

Bailey and all of your “fosters” are so blessed by your obvious love and affection them. Your loving heart touches so many.

I have, in turn, shared your blog with my twitter community … ’cause they need to know about you and what they can do to make a difference.

Thanks so much for all you do!

  13. Found my way to your site and wanted to say hello!

By the way… LOVE the name of your doggie! Teehee!

    Woofs & hugs, <3

    ~Bailey (Yep, I'm a girl!)
