Day 36: A Day to Rest and Catch Up

Just like you would probably have guessed,  today has been a very low-key day for us.  After Bailey’s party yesterday, it has been a day just to relax and do nothing.   As you can see,  Bailey was enjoying a little cuddle on the couch with his hedgehog, one of his new birthday toys.  Thanks Liz!

Since we clearly haven’t done anything interesting today, I’m using this blog to catch up on some random stuff and news.

By popular request, here is Brewster in all his ridiculous glory yesterday with as many toys as possible stuffed into that Lab mouth of his.   In this photo he actually has 6 things stuffed in his mouth.   He had a hoof chew, a platypus, a turtle, a bear, a pig, and Lamby.

and a video

A piece of good news… The rescue group that we foster for (Great Dog Rescue New England) was having a meet and greet for our dogs that are up for adoption and currently being fostered here in New England.  We did not attend with Jay.  Why?  Well, it’s pretty safe to say, though not official, that he has found his forever home.  A couple came to meet him yesterday evening, and they seemed to be the perfect match and everything I would want for him.  Of course, they fell in love with Jay as well. Although they said that before they even met him, they were already pretty sure they wanted him based on his photos and everything they heard about him.  There are still a couple steps to finish up in the process, but Jay should be getting his forever home very soon.  We’ll be sad to see him go, as we always are, but it makes it so much easier when you know that they are going to such great homes.  We have a tradition of taking “final goodbye photos” with our fosters so I’m sure you’ll be seeing those with Jay in a few days.

Here are a couple of videos of Jay and Bailey as well…

Here is just Jay being super cute

  1. Aw that first picture is very cute – Diesel loves to cuddle with his toys like that too (before he de-stuffs them lol).

    • Bailey is pretty gentle with his toys and they rarely get destuffed. They might lose and ear or leg or nose, but he likes to keep them around in-tact for the most part. They aren’t as comfy to cuddle with if they don’t have their stuffing ;)

  2. Love Brewster’s toy gluttony photo op! :)

  3. Hi there Bailey,

You sure are cute……it looks like you had lots of fun!!

Brewster – 6 toys in your mouth at once?? Mum gave me two at the same time for my birthday and I couldn’t even pick them up together, so had to take one off to play with it and then come back for the other……:)

    Catch you later, Snoopy :)

    • Yep, 6 toys… I think that was his max. When he tried to pick up more, he usually dropped them and then had to stuff them all in again. Some dogs are just silly.

Bailey can only handle 1 toy in his mouth as well so don’t feel bad.

Thanks for stopping by Snoopy :)

  4. Hedgie! Chester has had aboout 20 of those over his lifetime. It’s about his favorite toy.

When you said Jay had found his forever home I thought you were going to say that you were going to keep him :)

    • Bailey had an old hedgehog that was bigger and had ropes for feet. He loved it but between Bailey’s love and the foster’s love it bit the dust. He seems to like this hedgehog just as much :)

Yea, it does kinda seem like that the way I typed it. Tricked ya :P Lol The family that came to meet him though will be perfect for him so I’m excited. We are trying to get the process finished so they can take him before I go down to visit some family in Jersey. I was planning on bringing Jay with me because Craig works too late of hours for Jay to be home alone on his own. So we are hoping their home visit and everything can be done before Wednesday so they don’t have to wait and extra 5 days to take him home. We’ll see how it goes.

  5. Brewster looks like one happy dog!!! I enjoyed all your movies today. Thanks for the smiles.

  6. It’s wonderful to hear that Jay has found a home to call his own and adoptive pawrents that are a perfect match for him. We wish him all the best! And, as much as you will miss Jay’s presence, I think Bailey will dearly miss his playmate—they looked like they were have to much fun wrestling in the video :)

    • Bailey always misses his foster brothers and sisters after they leave and is mopey for a couple days. Jay is our 6th foster and I think Bailey is starting to realize that they don’t stay forever. It still doesn’t make it any easier on him the first couple days they are gone. Bailey deserves just as much credit as we do for fostering. He shares his home, toys and people and bonds tremendously with him and then has to deal when they leave.

  7. I think it’s so wonderful that you foster dogs! I’m so glad one has found a home. I LOVE the picture of Brewster hoarding the toys! And the videos gave me a good smile to start my day. Bailey is beautiful and looks like he has a wonderful temperament.

    • He does have a wonderful temperament. He is so happy go lucky with everyone he meets. We really lucked out with him.

Jay is our 6th foster dog so far. We have been extremely lucky that Jay included, all of our fosters have found absolutely wonderful homes.

  8. too cute, love the videos too. Jay totally has the leg pinning advantage. Luna has picked up 2 or 3 softies at once is all. And If she had that hedgehog the first thing I would do is cut the hand tag off and other tags.. she loves to chew them off which might lead to a premature hole, she would love it though, it has good love nibblin’ hair.

I hope the forever home for jay works out.
    Have a great monday
